US Sports Betting Legalization - Main Topic of This Year's G2E

Publish: 08.10.2017

Sports betting legalisation is a hot topic in the United States, so it doesn’t come as a surprise this issue will be one of the highlights of this year’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E).

One of the most important industry events of the years will be held at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas from October 3 to 5.

The president and Chief Executive Officer of American Gaming Association (AGA), Geoff Freeman, will give a speech on the future of sports betting in the States.

Life Without the Ban

Legalization of sports betting is becoming a more and more discussed issue, and at the right time, since the US Supreme Court will start hearing on the controversial federal ban on sports betting in November. If all goes according to schedule, a decision should be reached by June or July next year.

Washington Post recently conducted a survey, which revealed that more than 50% of US adult sports fans were supporting the sports betting legalisation, while 33% were against such a move.

Apart from Freeman, many industry experts will discuss the future of the legal sports betting in the United States.

What Else Awaits Us?

One of the guest speakers is the NBA legend and former LA Lakers player, Magic Johnson, who will discuss his life after retiring from the world’s strongest basketball club competition.

Another tricky issue will be discussed on G2E, especially since it’s significant for gaming operators in Nevada, and it concerns recreational marijuana whose use was legalised earlier this year.

Annually-held G2E was first organized back in 2001, and since has become one of the most critical events in the gaming industry, offering the look at international gaming, hospitality, and innovation.

More than 420 companies and organisation will be present in Las Vegas during this three-day event.
