Toronto Raptors Duo Square Off in Wahl Beard Battle
Canada’s branch of the Illinois grooming company Wahl is staging a unique fundraising event called The Wahl Beard Battle with the main goal of raising funds for The Carroll Family Foundation (CFF).
Playoff beard term has become quite famous in North American sports as professional athletes refuse to start growing beards when their team enter the playoffs and refuse to shave until they are either eliminated or win the coveted trophy, and Wahl Canada is now taking the superstition to a whole new level.
Toronto Raptors stars Cory Joseph and DeMarre Carroll have agreed to become the first ever Wahl Beard Battle participants as they will be involved in a four-week competition in an attempt to raise money for a good cause.
The duo has had their respective beards trimmed on April 10 at Toronto barbershop ColdKutz and will now start growing their beards with Wahl Canada documenting their progress on their Facebook page.
How to Take Part
Fans will get a chance to vote on beard progress photos until May 8, where the player with the most votes will be announced as the winner of the competition.
For every vote cast on their Facebook page, Wahl Canada will donate $1, up to a maximum of $10,000, so this is your chance to enter the competition and help raise money for The Carroll Family Foundation that raises awareness of adolescents with liver disease and disorders.
Toronto Raptors in NBA Playoffs
Toronto Raptors are enjoying one of the most successful NBA seasons in recent years, having finished the regular season in third place in the Eastern Conference.
They were however beaten by Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 at the Air Canada Centre due to a poor performance in the last two quarters.
The protagonists of The Wahl Beard Battle weren’t too impressive on the night, with DeMarre Carroll having managed 5 points and 4 rebounds and Cory Joseph producing 3 points and 5 assists.
