The Stars Group and Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort Sign a New Partnership Deal
Canadian gaming and online gambling company The Stars Group has announced the signing of an important new partnership agreement.
Under the terms of the new deal with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, the Toronto-based gaming giant will enter the online gaming, betting and sports betting market of the gambling enterprise owned and operated by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
The 5,200 square foot resort located in Akwesasne, New York has a wide offer consisting of more than 1,800 slot machines and 30 table games.
An Important Deal for Both Sides
Thanks to the new deal, The Stars Group will operate the resort’s online betting, poker and casino offering.
The New York Gaming Commission gave the green light for sports betting a couple of months ago, hoping to get in on the action as soon as possible, especially since the new National Football League season was scheduled to start in September, less than a month and a half from now.
Under the provisions of the current New York law, only pre-approved venues can offer sports betting. These casinos are Rivers Casino in Schenectady, del Lago Casino in Rochester, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, and Tioga Downs near Binghamton. In addition to them, a total of seven tribal casinos have been granted exclusive rights to makes wagering on sports a part of their offer.
Commenting on the new agreement, Robin Chhabra, Chief Executive Officer at FOX Bet, The Stars Group’s new sports betting brand in the U.S., pointed out his company was excited to announce the agreement with Mohawk.
He added the new deal would further strengthen The Star Group’s market access as it continued to build its FOX Bet business into one of the leaders in the emerging U.S. online betting and gaming market.
Ready for the New Football Season
The latest deal will provide support services related to the launch of the retail sportsbook in Northern New York. Mohawk will get a portion of the revenues from the sportsbook’s online operation, while The Stars Group is looking to get a share from the operation at this facility.
Todd Papineau, General Manager of the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort said they were thrilled to elevate the sports betting experience for their guests in the new sports lounge, a 5,200 square foot sports betting hub that would be ready during the NFL season.
He stated that once permitted in the state, they would be prepared to accept sports wagers through their new kiosks. Papineau added they were confident that with its online betting and gaming solutions and FOX Bet and PokerStars brands, The Stars Group was the ideal partner for the resort as it was positioned to become a leader in the U.S. online betting and gaming industry.
He further stated they were delighted to work with The Stars Group, one of the world’s largest, most licensed online gaming companies, to leverage the opportunity presented by online betting and gaming in the State of New York.
