Shorelines Casino Peterborough Officially Opened
October 15, 2018, was an important day for the gambling industry in Ontario, as Ontario Gaming East Limited Partnership (OGELP), a subsidiary of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, officially opened its Shorelines Casino Peterborough facility, located at 1400 Crawford Drive in Peterborough.
This has been only the second casino to open for business in Ontario since 2006!
Thirteen months after breaking ground, the new Peterborough facility worth nearly $50 million was finally completed.
Commenting on the grand opening, Bryan Buchanan, General Manager at Shorelines Casino Peterborough said opening day had been an exciting one for the casino’s 300 team members – 180 of which were new – who were all very eager to showcase the new facility to the city and the marketplace.
An Exceptional Offer
The newly-opened 50,000 square foot facility will offer its customers a wide array of the latest video slot machines, live dealer table games (blackjack, roulette, and baccarat), a Racebook, and an area dedicated to live entertainment.
In total, the new Shorelines Casino Peterborough facility will offer a 230 seat buffet restaurant, a 40 seat a la carte restaurant, as well as 500 video slot machines and 22 table games.
In addition to this, Shorelines Casino Peterborough offer will also include an ultimate dining experience thanks to the Windward Restaurant and Lounge, while visitors will have the chance to enjoy a wide offer of plates at The Buffet.
The grand opening ceremony of the casino took place last Monday, and began at 5 pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by live entertainment, while the first 2,500 guests received a special commemorative gift.
Buchanan stated Shorelines Casino Peterborough would offer an unparalleled gaming and entertainment experience to its guests, and added the company wanted to recognise the efforts of all the local businesses and trades personnel who had constructed an exceptional facility.
The local community has benefited from the opening of this facility – with 188 new jobs, while the city of Peterborough will receive around $6 million on a yearly basis, as its part of the casino revenue.
City councillor Lesley Parnell said the new source of revenue would be dedicated to capital infrastructure projects which were very important because the city had a lot of work to do, a lot of roads to fix.
