Scientific Games to Increase Its Production Capabilities
According to a statement by the company, it plans to significantly increase its current lottery instant-scratch game innovation and production capabilities by adding new and advanced manufacturing technology to its operations in North America and Europe.
Significant Growth Opportunities
Commenting on this, John Schulz, senior vice president Instant Products for Scientific Games, explained that the global instant product market surpassing $90 billion in retail sales in 2019 – with more than $50 billion in the U.S. alone. He added the company had identified significant growth opportunities, which was the main reason why they were advancing their manufacturing operations to align with shifts in consumer behaviour and their lottery customers’ needs.
The new manufacturing technology used by Scientific Games should include distinctive features, never before seen or used in the lottery industry. The technology will offer improved printing capabilities, which in turn should be able to support game innovation. At the same time, we can expect more flexibility for new playstyles, designs, unique finishes and paper stocks – a real treat for lottery companies around the globe.
Schulz added this manufacturing expansion represented Scientific Games’ strong commitment to serve the world’s lotteries and to entertain the world’s players through their instant game innovation. He also said the company’s new technology would allow their partners to bring new games to market more quickly, so they could offer their players just-in-time inventory at retail.
If all goes according to plans, to new manufacturing technology will lead to Scientific Games’ increase in annual production capacity by 21%. At the same time, the Nevada-based company – which is also the world’s largest instant game supplier – continues to optimize its global manufacturing locations, as well as other important aspects such as capabilities, flexibility and sustainability.
A True Industry Leader
Back in 1974, Scientific Games created the first-ever secure instant lottery game in the world, and today is a true industry leader, producing four times more instant games that its rival lottery suppliers. Thanks to its Enhanced Partnership program, Scientific Games has become the world’s biggest manager of instant lottery games, handling products from design state, all the way through manufacturing and warehousing, to retail distribution and marketing.
Schulz pointed out Scientific Games had a cumulative 50 years of experience, data and analytics behind its instant games, and the expansion the company’s North American and European manufacturing capabilities elevated its global leadership in instant products yet further.
He added that Scientific Games’ investment in this advanced technology would help its lottery customers generate revenue to support their good causes, such as important programs that benefited education, senior citizens, veterans, health and welfare, and the environment.
Only a couple of days ago, former Aristocrat boss Jamie Odell joined Scientific Games as an advisor to Chairman and CEO.
