PokerStars Previews Virtual Reality Poker
The world’s largest online poker website, PokerStars, has previewed its brand-new poker software.
It represents a virtual reality version of PokerStars’ poker software, which should have a commercial release in the future, although there is no information about when could it happen.
A Ground-Breaking Software
This piece of software promises an innovative and thrilling playing experience for both new and existing poker players. PokerStars VR, as it’s called, is a free-to-play social poker game that will bring a completely new and distinctive experience. Featuring visually captivating game environments, chips, and cards just as in the real world, it will also enable players to study their opponents, chat in real time, and enjoy a wide variety of interactive add-ons.
At first, PokerStars VR will offer the No-Limit Hold’em version of poker, while the multiplayer game is expected to be added soon. According to available information, around 100 players are testing the game using Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Steam.
Last week, PokerStars VR made its appearance at the UK’s biggest gaming-related event, EuroGamer, where it previewed its intuitive controls, voice command controls, streaming and social media integration on Oculus Rift, as well as integrated Twitch broadcasting.
Players all over the globe will be able to connect in this one of a kind experience. PokerStars VR will offer them to customise their avatars, socialise, and even chat. At the same time, players will be able to stream or share their games with the real world, while drinking virtual drinks, eating virtual dishes or even smoking virtual cigars as they play. Oh, did we mention you can throw items at other players or have your pet next to you?
Offering Serious Action
Social interactions aside, PokerStars VR will offer serious poker action. The software will offer players the possibility to study stats and observe their opponent’s behaviour. Players will also be able to earn prizes such as free chips to be used at the table. A number of exotic VR settings will be on offer: Macau 2050, The Macau Suite, The Showdown Saloon, Monte-Carlo Yacht, and The Void.
Commenting on this new and amazing software, Severin Rasset, Director of Poker Innovation and Operations at PokerStars said PokerStars VR was a chance to bring something totally unique to poker players.
He stated poker was about interaction and bringing people together, and added PokerStars was really excited to invest in the next generation of the game and to give players the opportunity to meet in a brand new virtual reality dimension.
