Playtech to Remove All Marvel Content Starting from April
Marvel’s main license holders Playtech – world’s leading online casino content developer and supplier – will be ending their cooperation after a series of slot games and three years of working together.
No More Marvel
Playtech became Marvel’s only game provider in 2014 when the company terminated its contract with Canadian company Amaya.
Marvel Entertainment was acquired by Disney in 2009 when the company began its mission to make Marvel a more family-friendly brand across its entertainment facilities which meant discontinuation of slot machine licensing arrangements as of 2013.
The Canadian company Amaya Gaming was forced to drop Marvel content from its promotion channels following the expiration of the licensing deal with Marvel, whereas Playtech remained operational due to a valid contract which expires at the end of the month.
Therefore, Playtech has instructed its software licensees’ websites to remove all Marvel-themed content by 31 March, whereas the affiliate managers are requested to remove Marvel-related promotional material by 1 April.
William Hill and Coral were among sites who received the notice from Playtech, with the company’s spokesperson claiming that company is in rush to have all the content removed in time.
Playtech’s Marvel products:
- Iron Man
- The Incredible Hulk
- The Fantastic Four
- The Avengers
All of the players who enjoy playing superhero-themed games, including those from Canada, will have no reason to worry as Playtech still has plenty of those to offer.
The company penned a licensing deal with Warner Brothers Consumer Products back in 2016, which brought up characters like Batman and Superman at first, whereas the February expansion of the DC deal allows Playtech to add more superhero characters.
The slot lovers will soon be able to enjoy a number of new multi-channel slots based of DC Entertainment’s popular titles such as:
- Dark Knight Trilogy
- Suicide Squad
- Justice League
