As one of world’s leading game developers, Playtech is a company which prides itself on being a leader in the gambling industry.

The company has been continually making steps to ensure it remained on the forefront of the business and their latest expansion is just a confirmation of Playtech’s ambition and vision.

Playtech Leading the Way

Playtech is proud to announce that it has become the first licensed online gaming operator in Czech Republic, thanks to the content and software supplier’s partnership with Fortuna.

Prague-based company, founded back in 2009, Fortuna is a leader in casino industry in Central and Eastern Europe which boasts a large selection of Playtech’s game library which includes slot and table games in both desktop and mobile variations.

Playtech and Fortuna teamed up in August 2016 to make a joint breach into the recently-regulated Romanian market and to prepare plans for further expansion into Poland and Slovakia in the future.

And with Fortuna being awarded the first-ever Czech licence that allows company to operate online games, the successful partnership between Playtech and Fortuna has seen another huge milestone.

First Ever in Czech Republic

Operators interested in entering the Czech market are required to obtain a licence from the Czech Ministry of Finance in a tight licensing process, which includes:

  • 23% tax rate on gross revenue for sports betting and lottery
  • 35% tax rate on RNG casino games
  • On top of standardized 19% corporate tax rate

Playtech and Fortuna have complied to requirements and will remain remembered as the first operators ever to set foot on the Czech gambling ground.

“We are delighted to be the first supplier to go live in the Czech Republic with our pioneering omni-channel platform technology and best-performing casino content and to further expand Fortuna’s offering in this newly regulated market,” Playtech’s chief operating officer Shimon Akad said.
