NetEnt Games Launched in British Columbia

Publish: 23.10.2018
This has been a very busy period for the Swedish online gaming giant NetEnt.

First of all, the renowned developer announced the launch of its own affiliate business, where players will be able to get to know more about the company’s portfolio and try out its games.

Then, the company announced its plans to further increase its presence in the United States by applying for a gaming license in Pennsylvania. NetEnt revealed it would focus on offering its games to land-based casinos in Pennsylvania, which were already in the process of getting their online gaming offerings ready.

The Canadian Debut

Now, the company has announced another important move made on the North American continent, which will especially delight all the punters in British Columbia, since a part of the developer’s extensive portfolio of slot games will be available to customers in this Canadian province.

NetEnt games arrive in Western Canada

NetEnt obtained the license as a supplier to the only licensed gaming and lottery operator in the province, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) in May last year.

According to a statement made by the Stockholm-headquartered company, this move has been made possible through a deal the BCLC signed with the US-based operator International Game Technology (IGT).

This is an important milestone for NetEnt since this is the first time its games have been made available to players in Canada.

After the Swedes signed an agreement with IGT, which gave the Nevada-based gaming company permission to supply the BCLC through its IGT Connect integration layer, the developer announced the integration process was successfully completed. Now, a range “of world-leading games” will finally become a part of the BCLC’s offering.

An Important Milestone

Therese Hillman, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the company in May, replacing Per Eriksson at this position, described the latest move as “an important milestone” in NetEnt’s efforts to expand its presence across the North American continent.

Commenting on the launch of NetEnt’s games on the regulated market in Canada, Hillman said that entering regulated markets was a vital part of the company’s strategy going forward, especially within the World Lottery Association segment.

She pointed out she was sure that NetEnt’s existing games would be much appreciated by the BCLC’s players.

NetEnt’s debut on Canadian market represents a build-up of an existing relationship with IGT, which recently saw the developer’s games go live with Norwegian operator, and World Lottery Association (WLA) member, Norsk Tipping.

In addition to this, a couple of days ago NetEnt signed an agreement to launch its content in Lithuania, through a new partnership with local online gaming operator Top Sport.

Commenting on this move, Henrik Fagerlund, Chief Product Officer for NetEnt AB said he was pleased to sign a new deal with Top Sport as the arrangement was set to further strengthen the firm’s position in regulated markets.

Founded in 1996, NetEnt has since become one of the biggest names in the online gaming industry. Today, the company, which employs more than 1,000 talented individuals, boasts an extensive portfolio of more than 200 games, delivered to over 200 casinos around the globe.
