Microgaming’s Progressive Slots Award Fantastic Prizes in the First Half of 2019
In the first six months of this year, Microgaming awarded €89,879,343 to lucky punters of its progressive jackpot slots, paying out a total of 1,150,599 jackpots during that period.
Changing Lives on Jackpot at a Time
Eight players managed to win seven or eight-figure prizes, or €43 million in total, which accounted for nearly half of all winnings paid out during the six-month period ending on June 30, 2019. 380 players won five- or six-figure awards from the developer’s progressive jackpot network.
Leading the way in terms of prizes was Microgaming’s cult Mega Moolah video slot, also known as “The Million Maker”. One lucky player at Zodiac Casino managed to score the largest Microgaming’s jackpot won so far this year while playing this five-reel slot with 25 paylines. The Africa-themed progressive video slot paid out a staggering jackpot of €13,328,028.16 (around $15 million), which is also the third-largest jackpot ever awarded by a Microgaming slot.
The largest jackpot ever hit on the developer’s progressive network was awarded in September last year when a Grand Mondial Casino players won a massive prize worth €18,915,872.81 (around $21.5 million).
Four years ago, Jon Heywood set a new Guinness World Record, for the “Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game” after winning a €17,879,645.12 (around $20 million) jackpot while playing Mega Moolah on his mobile device. So far, Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network has made 74 millionaires.
Waiting for New Winners
Only two players won eight-figure jackpots in the first half of the year. In addition to the lucky Zodiac Casino punter, who took home a massive prize, other winner hit an €11,546,388.15 (nearly $13 million) in early March.
During that month, Microgaming awarded two multi-million jackpots in just two days. Following the €11,546,388.15 jackpot, another player managed to hit a neat €2,201,120.31 win.
In May, Microgaming’s progressive network awarded two wins: one worth €5,430,849.65 win on May 3, and a €5,673,973.78 prize hit 20 days later. It should be noted that all these jackpots were paid out as “lump sums”, as it is the case with all win on Microgaming’s network.
Commenting on the performance of the company’s progressive jackpot slots, John Coleman, Chief Executive Officer at Microgaming said 2019 was gearing up to be a great year for Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network, with total lifetime payouts fast approaching the €1.1 billion mark.
Coleman congratulated all winning players on the network and reminded it remained the largest one in the industry.
He added Microgaming was looking forward to hosting more life-changing wins in the second half of the year.
The renowned developer has been busy lately, signing new deals with operators such as 888 and BGO, and launching several new games, including Magic of Sahara, Sherlock of London, and a sequel to its popular video slot featuring Jungle Jim.
