Kim Barker Lee Named IGT's Head Of Corporate Diversity
The London-headquartered multinational gaming company that produces slot machines and other gaming technology IGT Group has announced the company has named its first-ever Vice President of Corporate Diversity and Inclusion.
According to the announcement, Kim Barker Lee will give an important task of implementing IGT’s global diversity strategy, working closely with the company’s governance and Human Resources.
Important Move For IGT
Barker Lee will also lead IGT Group’s program called Executive Diversity and Inclusion Council (EDIC), whose goal is to assist the firm’s leadership in dealing with diversity impacts and workforce challenges.
Commenting on the latest addition to IGT executive team, Mario Di Loreto, Executive Vice President of People and Transformation said the company was committed to ensuring that its workforce reflected the global customers and communities that it served. This move, he added, would enable IGT to continue to deliver the best products and services to its customers around the world.
Di Loreto stated that Barker Lee was an excellent choice for the position, and emphasized her personal contribution to IGT, her true passion for diversity and inclusion, and unwavering commitment as attributes which perfectly fitted for this position.
From 2011 to 2017, Barker Lee worked at Illinois-based Northstar Lottery Group, IGT’s subsidiary, as the company’s Chief Legal Officer.
Implementing New Policies
With this move, IGT sends a clear message the company plans to establish relevant corporate goals relating to its diversity policies and initiatives.
IGT’s new Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, Kim Barker Lee said diversity and inclusion went beyond gender and race and added everyone needed to embed a culture of inclusion into their values. According to her this culture of inclusion is where all employees feel valued, respected, listened to, engaged, and empowered to contribute to the success of the Company.
Barker Lee stated IGT would continue to achieve success by recognizing that diversity was an asset and a business imperative in today’s global marketplace.
