Kevin Rivest Takes First Prize in the Canadian Poker Championships

Partypoker LIVE is slowly but surely taking over the world of live poker tournaments.

Last week was reserved for the PartyPoker LIVE Canadian Poker Championships, with plenty of action and an exciting heads-up encounter, while at the end Kevin Rivest finished at the top of the table.

A Mighty Fine Final Table

Canadian $2,200 buy-in tournament attracted a lot of players. 899 entrants were ready to give their best win this $2 million guaranteed event.

The final table brought suspense and excitement, with some of the best players in the world making an appearance. Mike Leah was simply unstoppable, while Patrick Serda managed not only to find the spot at the final table but also to win the $10,000 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) High Roller on PokerStars, taking home$470,000.

However, it seems he ran out of luck so had to contend with the seventh position at the final table, while Leah was fourth-placed.

Rivest Comes Out on Top

The thrilling heads-up encounter was between Kevin Rivest and Darren Keyes. Rivest managed to bank $280,325 and Keyes 303,675. Rivest got additional $56,000 which was reserved for the winner for a total of $336,325!

Rivest was somewhat of an underdog since he didn’t have a particularly long history of finishing at the very top in live events. Back in May, Rivest finished 15th in the PartyPoker MILLION North America, pulling in $40,000.

Ema Zajmovic finished 11th, two places ahead of Chanracy Khun, while Kyle Bowker was far behind, finishing 21st.
