Kabam Expands Its HQ with Lease in Vancouver's New Office Tower

The Canadian developer of mobile games Kabam, has ambitious growth plans for the future. These plans include the long-term lease of 105,000 square feet across seven floors at one of the future landmark building in Vancouver.

We’re talking about Vancouver Centre II (VCII), the project whose construction should be completed by 2021, and which will become the first of many office towers that will be built in downtown Vancouver.

A Great Move

Kabam is already excited about this move, which will move the company’s headquarters to one unified environment.

Commenting on this move, Geoff Heu, Vice President, Development – Western Canada, GWL Realty Advisors (the company behind the project) said Kabam was exactly the kind of forward-thinking, industry-leading company the firm had in mind when designing VCII.

Heu added that with VCII’s premier location in the downtown tech hub and its direct connection to two transit lines, it wasn’t surprising the building was already one-third leased before excavation was even complete. He added that with the current exceptionally low office vacancy rate of 3.9%, the company was confident that VCII would be fully leased prior to completion.

Kabam was founded in 2006 and has since become one of the biggest names when it comes to multiplayer mobile games. The developer’s extensive portfolio includes Marvel Contest of Champions, a game launched in 2014 and downloaded more than 168 million times since its arrival on the market.

Today, Kabam has more than 400 employees in its offices in Canada (Vancouver) and the United States (San Francisco and Austin). At this point, Vancouver has a special place in the company’s expansion plans.

When choosing VCII, Kabam found that it offered more than others and met the criteria for supporting Kabam’s team and their long-term growth.

Once they move into VCII, Kabam will enjoy a wide range of first-class features, such as the 29th Floor Skyline Rooftop Deck, a modern fitness facility, yoga studio, and cycling facilities. In addition to this, VCII will also have dog-friendly facilities.

The VCII project has been registered with the International WELL Building Institute, while the Wired Certification brings a guarantee its digital infrastructure will meet the needs of today’s modern technology, and ensures it has the capacity for any future upgrades.

Once the construction of VCII – which is being developed by GWL Realty Advisors on behalf of The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, the Great-West Life Real Estate Fund, and London Life Real Estate Fund – is completed, the office tower will sit in the middle of Vancouver’s new commercial office district.
