IGT’s Powerbucks Progressive Game Now Available in Ontario

Ontario’s provincial monopoly, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has announced the signing of an important partnership deal that will see the expansion of the offer the Crown Corporation currently has.

Under the provisions of the deal with the gaming giant International Game Technology (IGT), OLG will be able to add the Powerbucks progressive game to its extensive offer. This move is equally important for the gaming technology giant, as it will help it further cement its market positions in Canada.

Expanding Its Canadian Footprint

In addition to Ontario, the Powerbucks game is also available for players in British Columbia, Quebec, Manitoba and New Brunswick.

Thanks to the new agreement, players from all over Ontario can enjoy the Wheel of Fortune Hawaiian Getaway and Wheel of Fortune Exotic Far East games. These titles, which are known for paying out staggering jackpots, have been added to the line-up of games available on the PlayOLG website.

Powerbucks is the first omni-channel progressive game in the world, connecting jackpot prize pool from land-based, desktop, tablet, and mobile versions of the game, and across all provinces where the Powerbucks is available, into a single jackpot pool. In practice, this means the Powerbucks game can bring life-changing prizes.

The Powerbucks game made its debut in the Canadian market back in 2016 and has since paid out several handsome jackpots. The largest one to have ever been awarded was hit in July last year when a lucky player won a fantastic payout worth C$2,152,860 while playing IGT’s Powerbucks theme, Powerhits at Treasure Cove Casino in British Columbia.

The most recent Powerbucks prize was awarded at the Casino du Lac-Leamy after a Gatineau player hit the C$1,000,000 jackpot.

Since 2016, the game has awarded a total of 15 jackpots worth C$1 million or more.

A Long History of Working Together

Commenting on the new agreement with OLG, David Flinn, IGT Regional Vice President, Canada said his company was excited to offer the popular Powerbucks network to players in Ontario.

He explained that Powerbucks was a very popular brand among both land-based and Canadian online casino players, and added the game’s increasing omni-channel jackpot pool provided a distinctive gaming experience, unlike any other available at this moment in Ontario.

It should be pointed out that OLG has been IGT’s long-term partner in Canada, as well as its important PlayRGS customer.

As we’ve already said, the two sides have a long and successful history of working together. Back in February last year, IGT offered a wide array of its electronic bingo products to customers in Ontario, while OLG became the first Canadian operator to offer the new content developed by the renowned gaming company.

IGT is the leading name in the global gaming business, boasting a wide offer of products, including gaming, machines, lotteries and social gaming. The company is present in more than 100 countries around the world, employing more than 12,000 people.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is a Crown Corporation owned by the provincial government, offering lotteries, casinos and slot machines in Ontario since 1975.
