Publish: 18.07.2018
June 28th was an important day for Atlantic City and its gambling industry, with two new casinos opening their doors to new customers.

In addition to Ocean Drive Resort, which took place of the former Revel casino, another new venue opened for business at the city’s historic Boardwalk is the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City.

The magnificent opening ceremony attracted stakeholders and celebrities and should mark a new era for the struggling gambling industry in the city.

A Much-Needed Boost for the City’s Gambling Industry

It’s interesting that the new AC venue was opened a day earlier than originally planned. With two new players on the scene, the total number of casinos offering their services in Atlantic City has now risen to nine.

Commenting on the launch of the new venue, Jim Allen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Hard Rock International said his company was committed to this market not just because there was a gaming opportunity. Allen pointed out Hard Rock International believed in Atlantic City and in the state of New Jersey and added he believed Atlantic City’s best days were in front of it.

According to a report from the Philadelphia Enquirer, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement approved the Wednesday opening of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City only a couple of hours before the giving the green light for the opening of the Ocean Resort Casino.

The opening ceremony matched the rock music theme of the new Boardwalk venue was very crowded, with dancing robots and confetti. The new casino is opened at the place of the former Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, which was opened for more than two and a half decades, from 1990 to 2016.

What’s on Offer?

Future guests will have nearly 2,000 rooms at their disposal, with plenty of rock’n’roll memorabilia. The 119,657 square feet casino offers 120 gaming tables, along with 2,144 slots, while the venue even has a theatre with a capacity of 5,500 seats and a Hard Rock Café. The latter has 402 seats and 16 slots on offer.

In addition to this, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City also features eleven dining venues, including an Asian and a seafood restaurant with 500 seats combined, but also a buffet option with 553 seats.

Former Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort was bought by Boardwalk 1000 back in March 2017, in a transaction worth $50 million. Since then, the place has undergone a massive $500 million makeover. The gaming operations of the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City will be run by the HR Atlantic City subsidiary of Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment Incorporated, for the period of 10 years, while the further expansion of the site will include gas stations, stores, and even a car wash.

The newly-opened venue will also have a real-money online casino platform, which will be provided by their new online gambling technology partner Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).

The two sides partnered back in February. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City will also offer live dealer games, which will be broadcasted directly from Atlantic City, while the name of their live dealer tech partner is yet to be revealed.
