Focusing on Ontario
Great Canadian Gaming has already revealed it will focus its attention on Ontario at the expense of its three facilities in the state of Washington. So it came as no surprise when the company announced it would sell its casinos in Everett, Tukwilla and Lakewood to Maveric Gaming for $56 million. This move market the Canadian company’s exit from the U.S. market.
The work on the Pickering casino complex in the Durham region, called Durham Live, is well underway, while the expansion of the offering of Elements Casino Mohawk, located in the Campbellville area of Halton should be completed during the second quarter.
After the completion of the expansion, the casino’s offering will comprise of 1,500 slot machines and 60 table games.
In the first quarter of this year, which concluded on March 31, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation recorded a 35% increase in revenue, ending the period with C$312.1 million, while its adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to C$111.6 million.
Great Canadian Gaming Corporation was established back in 1982, initially operating charity casinos and a venue at Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver. Its first permanent casino in Vancouver opened in 1986. Today the company is one of the leading casino operators in the country, listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
