Google Play Set to Sanction Gambling Apps
Big news is coming from Google as the company plans to accept gambling apps at their Google Play starting from the next month.
Google Play to Accept Gambling Apps
First to see benefits of the great news are the UK users, whereas the company plans to add several markets later this year. No information currently available as for the Canadian market, though.
Google Play marketplace serves millions of Android users across the globe looks set to remove its restrictions in the UK, with France and Ireland following next.
Gaming sites were thus far allowed to offer their mobile apps via their own or third-party channels, whereas the new directive will now allow gambling site to gain a direct access to Google Play.
Gambling operators will now be able to tap in on a lucrative market which currently holds nearly 50% market share across handheld devices in the UK alone. With the unstoppable pace of mobile growth and development, gambling sites are in for a major change as Google Play prepares to sanction the real-money gambling apps.
Huge Opportunity for Operators
It is reported that Google will start accepting applications for the distribution of gambling apps within the Play store in the UK, France and Ireland as of August 2017. At a later date, however, the policy change may be expanded to new regions and countries since developers will be required to also submit licences applications for countries they’re looking to target.
This will help Google determine the exact mapping of the possible expansion further down the line, whereas the entire project is set to emerge as a huge opportunity for gaming operators who look to grow their Android app portfolio and user base.
