Canada Casino Weekend Round-Up: Big Wins, Lotto Jackpots & Arrests
It’s been another action-packed casino weekend in Canada.
The fun started on Friday when a winning ticket for the $23.6 million Lotto Max draw jackpot was drawn. Lucky winner bought the ticket somewhere in Ontario but the exact location is yet to be announced.
The Jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw on 14 July will be somewhere around $10 million.
Saturday brought another life-changing windfall with the $9.5 million Lotto 6/49 draw was claimed by a ticket purchased somewhere in British Columbia.
The guaranteed $1 million prize went to a player in the Prairies.
The jackpot for the next Lotto 6/49 draw will be approximately $5 million.
The weekend also saw an Edmonton couple become richer by $1 million they won on a guaranteed 6/49 prize back on 14 June. Joseph Nsiah and Jean Taylor purchased the winning ticket from a 7-Eleven in Edmonton and the pair was in utter disbelief when the news struck.
“I checked the ticket on the WCLC mobile app and then called my wife. I told her we won $1 million, but she didn’t believe me.”, Nsiah said in a news release and added they had to double-check the winnings in a store.
“When we scanned the ticket we did the ‘happy dance’. It feels like such a blessing.”, Taylor added.
The couple already has some plans in mind for how they are going to spend their prize. Paying off some bills and mortgage is a big part of those.
In other, not that happy news, a man was arrested in Calgary for taking a photo up a woman’s skirt at Cowboys Casino early on Friday morning. The man was taken into custody and his phone was seized. Police released him ultimately, but the man is still under investigation.
This is not the only recent case in Calgary as a similar incident occurred last month when police arrested another man who allegedly secretly recorded women bodies for years.
Police seized thousands of images from his devices, many of which were posted online.
