Amaya Inc Promotes New PokerStars Director of Marketing

Canadian gaming powerhouse Amaya Inc. updated the market with an announcement of the promotion of David Carrion to the executive position of Director of Marketing for Amaya-owned PokerStars.

“PokerStars has appointed David Carrion as Director of Marketing to lead the global strategy of the PokerStars brand, including advertising, digital, social media, content marketing and live events.”, PokerStars said in a statement.

David Carrion is a familiar name with Amaya and its online poker division PokerStars, having already been a member of the company’s marketing and operations since 2010. Carrion joined PokerStars under the management of Rational Group and remained in his position after the takeover.

“Carrion joined PokerStars in January 2010 as Director of Live Poker Operations for Latin America. A background in poker and table games within the bricks and mortar industry served him well in growing and developing the Latin American Poker Tour, sponsoring the Brazilian Series of Poker and directing the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure through to 2015.”, the statement also read.

Experienced Industry Veteran

Carrion is an experienced industry’s specialist who worked on a number of international takeover projects for PokerStars and his contribution in helping the company achieve its market leading position has been recognized by his superiors.

Before his PokerStars engagement, David Carrion served as Group Director of Performance Marketing and was in charge of Amaya’s player acquisition strategies and initiatives.

PokerStars’ new Director of Marketing will sit in his new office as of 1 July and as a senior executive will be responsible for the performance and reporting of all PokerStars multi-market teams across the globe.

In addition to his new role, Carrion will act as an interim Director of Live Events until a new executive is appointed.

Pokerstars thanked both Vadim Soloveychik and Edgar Stuchly, directors of Brand Marketing and Live Events, respectively, for their contribution and begin the search for new names as staff reappointments continue under new CEO Rafi Ashkenazi.
